How to use Being Him

This blog is focused on Christian holiness. On a weekly basis, by looking at episodes from the life of Jesus, you can shape your character by eliminating vices and accentuating virtues. A devotional item will be published at the beginning of each week (between Monday and Wednesday). Each post is 500 words in length. The format is always the same. Initially you'll be instructed to read passage from the Bible, then you can read a reflection on a virtue or a vice (on alternate weeks) and, finally, this a short prayer for you to read.

At this stage 52 posts are planned, so you'll have something to read each week of the year. Weekly, you'll be able to consider either a virtue to adopt or a vice to avoid. These are attributes Jesus either adopted or avoided. To this end, a list of 26 virtues and 26 vices had been created, and this is based on the following passages of Scripture:
  • Galatians 5:19-23
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
  • 2 Corinthians 6:6-7
  • Ephesians 4:2, 5:3-5 and 5:9
  • Colossians 3:12-2
  • 1 Peter 3:15
  • Revelations 22:15

While this list isn't exhaustive, it offers much food for thought. Hopefully, after reading these posts, and either adopting a virtue or avoiding a vice, you'll be able to be a bit more like Jesus. In short, you will be holy, just as He is holy. This will be achieved by reading and by prayer. It is as simple as that.
